Employers are making efforts to improve their hiring processes to attract the best talent, according to a survey by Criteria, a pre-employment assessment and interview-training firm. Job candidates expect better communication, competitive salaries, and career advancement opportunities. They also want a quicker recruitment process and believe that four or five rounds of job interviews are excessive.
Job seekers are looking for the recruitment process to reflect the company's values and employee treatment. Some believe that AI tools can assist in finding jobs, improving resumes, and preparing for interviews. However, Leslie Loveless, CEO at Slone Partners, emphasized the importance of candidates ensuring that their resumes contain specific achievements and quantifiable metrics.
The survey revealed mixed feelings about employers using AI in the hiring process. While 51% of respondents were neutral, 26% had a positive view, and 22% felt negatively about it. Criteria CEO Josh Millet pointed out the ambivalence about AI in hiring among both employers and employees.
Employers are also facing challenges during the interview stage, as some hiring managers admit to asking illegal questions during job interviews. Additionally, they may encounter counter offers from candidates' former employers. Despite the challenges, the demand for skilled workers remains high, with employers competing for talent to meet their hiring needs.
